Contrary to popular opinion, this guy is still around. This photo was taken in late February of ‘07.
This was one rockin’ old band. Sadly, they are now long forgotten. The name of the band was: “L. H. Ozzy and the School Book Depository Boys” and they had at least one BIG hit in 1963 and also released at least one very controversial video.
Anyway, I found the above pic on the net. I didn’t make it, and I don’t know who did. But, it did give me a chuckle.
I got a brand new Conky finger puppet! It comes packaged inside The Trailer Park Boys X-mass Special DVD! Everyone needs their very own Conky!
I woke up this morning to the above view of my backyard. This is the first snow in Ottawa of the 2005 season. It’s not snowing anymore… it has turned to freezing rain now. However, I just heard that they are calling for another 10 centimeters of the crap before tomorrow. Man, I’m really not looking forward to winter weather!
I just thought that this was a little funny. Perhaps you have to share my sense of humor to find humor in this yourself… but, I was doing a little editing to the website tonight and I noticed this ad pop up (Ads are served by Google, I have no control over them.) on my site:

So, it would seem that there is now a pill to stop the aging process of any “retards” you might have about. But, what about the rest of us?
A somewhat disturbing, yet quite interesting giant baby-head currently on display at the National Gallery of Canada. I seem to have forgotten the name of the artist, but I remember, from reading the display card, that he/she was Australian.
Wayne snapped a picture of me while we were waiting for ZZTop to begin at the Ottawa BluesFest.

So, I snapped one of him!

This summer promises to be one hell of a musical summer. I have already recieved tickets to the Rolling Stones concert in August, entire event passes to this year’s Ottawa BluesFest, which is eleven straight days of non-stop concerts, tickets to Styx in July, and tonight I kicked off this musical summer with the first show of the season: Mountain, April Wine, and the headlining act: Deep Purple.
All three bands played amazing shows. Until you see him play live, I don’t think it’s possible to fully grasp exactly why, as a guitarist, Leslie West is rated as highly as he is. Mountin is a true power-trio in every sense of the term. However, it is unfortunate that Leslie’s vocals just weren’t there tonight. I don’t know if he’s suffering some sort of temporary affliction, or his voice is just gone for good, but even he knows it, as he related to the audience: “As you can probably tell, my voice is gone, but I don’t really give a shit. I’m going to do my best anyway.”
April Wine belted out hit after hit and still didn’t get to nearly all of them (Where was “Could Have Been A Lady”, “Caught In The Cross Fire”, “All Over Town”, etc.?) But, Myles Goodwyn’s vocals are still as strong and as distinct as ever, and both he and Brian Greenway are no slouches on the guit-fiddle either!
However, the headlining act of Deep Purple was the real jewel of the night. Words just can’t describe the awesome musicality of this band. I was left truly awestruck and speechless. Steve Morse has replaced Ritchie Blackmore on guitar for this tour, and while in my opinion he lacks some of the musical character and originality of Blackmoore, he is still a technical guitar force of immense proportions. Gillan’s vocals are absolutely unparralled! This man can wail a note in a manner that I bet at least 90% of profesional vocalists less than half his age, even a third of his age, can only dream of. Tonight’s Purple was pretty much the “Machine Head” Purple lineup: Roger Glover, Ian Gillan, Ian Pace, with replacements of Don Airy & Steve Morse standing in for the late Jon Lord and absent Ritchie Blackmoore. I have often said that with Deep Purple, in the form of the “Machine Head” line-up, one would be hard pressed to find, in all of rock history, a greater grouping of pure musical talent and technical skill. I think they proved me right tonight.
Anyway, I tried to get a few shots, but my cheap digital camera didn’t like the lighting conditions. The first shot is of April Wine during their set. The second shot is taken between sets and is of the stage in the middle of being set-up for Deep Purple’s performance.
